There are many ways to find a job. It can be as easy as walking into a neighborhood store to look at its announcement board . Local stores often have areas where people can put small signs telling what kind of service they need or can provide. Such services include caring for children or cleaning houses.
Or,job searchers can look in the newspaper. Local newspapers have employment announcements placed by companies seeking workers.
Another popular tool for finding jobs is the Internet. For example, people in four hundred and fifty cities around the world can use the Craigslist Web site to buy objects, meet people or find a job. Craigslist says that it receives two million new job listings each month.
Another useful way to find a job is through a college or university. For example, students at the University of Texas in Austin can go to the Career Exploration Center to get help in finding a job. Of course, looking for a job requires knowing what kind of work you want to do. For example, there is a book called "What Color is Your Parachute(降落傘)?”by Richard Bolles. This book has been helping people choose a career(職業(yè))since it was first published in 1970.
Some experts also help people find jobs. Susan W.Miller owns a company called California Career Services in Los Angeles. She says her company helps people find jobs by first helping them understand their strengths, goals and interests. Then she provides them with methods and resources to help them find the right job.

According to researchers, money can buy happiness, but only if you spend it on someone else.
Spending as little as $5 a day on someone else could significantly bring you happiness, the team at the University of British Columbia and Harvard Business School found.
Their experiments on more than 630 Americans showed they were measurably(適度地) happier when they spent money on others---even if they thought spending the money on themselves would make them happier.
"We wanted to test our theory that how people spend their money is at least as important as how much money they earn," said Elizabeth Dunn, a psychologist at the University of British Columbia.
They asked their 600 volunteers first to rate their general happiness, report their annual income and detail their monthly spending including bills, gifts for themselves, gifts for others and donations to charity(慈善機(jī)構(gòu)).
"Regardless of how much income each person made, those who spent money on others reported greater happiness, while those who spent more on themselves did not," Dunn said in a statement.
Dunn's team also surveyed(調(diào)查)16 employees at a company in Boston before and after they received an annual profit-sharing bonus(獎金) of between $3,000 and $8,000.
"Employees who devoted more of their bonus to pro-social(有益社會的) spending experienced greater happiness after receiving the bonus, and the manner in which they spent that bonus was a more important predictor(預(yù)示) of their happiness than the size of the bonus itself," they wrote in their report, published in the journal Science.
They gave their volunteers $5 or $20 and half got clear instructions on how to spend it.Those who spent the money on someone or something else reported feeling happier about it.
"These findings suggest that very minor alterations(改動) in spending allocations(分配) --- as little as $5 --- may be enough to produce real gains in happiness on a given day," Dunn said.
