【題目】 Since it first opened after four years of construction in 1937 at a cost of $27 million, the Golden Gate Bridge has made its appearance in films and poetry.

CNN Travel spent a day climbing into and ground the bridge, learning these secrets from the people who know and love it best.

Does the bridge get entirely painted every year?

Noand it doesn’t need to be. It’s true that the top coat has been fully repainted over time with new and environmentally-improved International Orange top coats.

Who performs bridge rescues?

【題目】請閱讀下面文字,并按照要求用英語寫一篇150詞左右的文章。

A video showing a traffic police officer pretending to be blind being denied permission to get on a bus with a guide dog has been drawing public attention and has led to heated online discussions about the lack of support and care for the visually impaired(視覺障礙人士). As shown in the video, wearing a blindfold, the officer wasn't allowed on the bus with the guide dog, and was told no dogs are allowed whether they're guide dogs or not. Some passengers also scolded the officer for making a scene and wasting their time, while the dog appeared very distressed.

The guide dog's owner Gao Zhipeng, who is visually impaired, told media Monday that this has been happening almost every day since he brought Taobao home in 2014,and it is the same when catching a cab. And each time they were refused, Taobao would sink into depression for days.

The guide dog being denied boarding is just the tip of the iceberg, compared to the various difficulties faced by the country's visually impaired population every day when they leave their home.

【題目】 It was Mother’s Day, but I knew there would be no celebration for me. I was a mother of a very active two-year-old and my husband was a Captain of a Navy ship. That morning I had been up early and had already taken several phone calls from both Navy wives and other people needing to be comforted. After one phone call, I leaned back in my chair, and said, “Dear God, I am hustling to be a blessing to others, but what about me? Is there anything for me today?”

At that very moment the telephone rang. It was the voice of a little girl who said, “Miss Stephanie I’ve been thinking of you!” It took my breath away! I had known this girl from another city, but at that moment it was to me the voice of God! I greatly valued the thoughtfulness of the little one and her family who knew my husband was out. But even greater than their kindness, I felt deeply touched by the timing of the call and felt that precious voice spoke to me of God’s great love for me.

There have been many Mother’s Days since that one, but none so special, so deeply moving, so tenderly comforting. I will never forget the feel of knowing how loved I was, and that I would never be forgotten.

In the United States and elsewhere, Mother’s Day has become synonymous(與同義)with lots of human expectations. If we’re not careful, the fulfillment of these clichés can become a false standard for feeling loved, and a heavy burden on our family. When I think of that Mother’s Day long ago, tears come to my eyes, but not out of sadness. I rejoice(慶幸)in the profound love and caring I felt and still feel to this day. This experience helps me see that love hugs everyone, and that makes my heart sing for us all!

1How did the writer feel after comforting others on Mother’s Day?

A.Comfortable.B.Disappointed.

C.Anxious.D.Energetic.

2What conclusion can we draw from the last paragraph?

A.Mother’s Day has become not so important in the United States.

B.The fulfillment of human expectations will never be a heavy burden.

C.The writer was always moved to tears on every Mother’s Day.

D.That Mother’s Day long ago had a positive influence on the writer’s life.

3What can be a suitable title for the passage?

A.A Call from a Little Girl.

B.A Memorable Mother’s Day.

C.God’s Great Love for Everyone.

D.A Mother’s Day Long Time Ago.

【題目】 CARMEL VALLEY - You don’t necessarily have to be older to be a Good Samaritan. Take Carmel Valley resident, Daniella Marie Benitez, 14, who is not your average teen. Daniella is helping Tijuana families have roofs over their heads — one family at a time.

It began in 2017 while she was volunteering for Build A Miracle and building a home for a family in need in Tijuana, Mexico. Daniella found it so fulfilling that she took the lead in building another home with the support of her family and friends.

To date, she has raised $32,000 for her cause and recently headed to Tijuana to begin building her team’s second home.

“It has been an unbelievable experience,” Daniella, a freshman at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, said. She learned about Build A Miracle through her previous school, Notre Dame Academy. It is a nonprofit organization that takes a family in need from a shack (棚屋) to a new home with electricity, bedrooms, kitchen and a bathroom. It has built more than 350 homes since 1999.

During this most recent trip to Tijuana, Daniella and her team poured the foundation (基金) for the second new home. Additionally, she used her other volunteering position as a member of KIDBOX’s Kids board of directors to help distribute $10,000 worth of brand new KIDBOX clothing to her BAM community’s kids.

Between BAM and KIDBOX, the busy teen said she would continue to volunteer both locally and in Mexico to “stay humble.” She isn’t about to stop helping others; in fact, it’s something she treasures. “I’ve been working with BAM for about a year and a half. I got involved at the end of seventh grade when my previous school sponsored the building of a school sponsored home; my mom forced my family and me to go down to TJ to actually help build the house,” she said. “Meeting the family and seeing their delight and relief when they walked into their new home was priceless and is what inspired me to keep doing this.”

1What made Daniella stand out among teens?

A.Her constant efforts to help those less fortunate.

B.The building of a school sponsored home.

C.Her attempt to raise a fund for her cause.

D.The organizing of Build A Miracle.

2How did Daniella make connections between BAM and KIDBOX?

A.She encouraged KIDBOX to collect money for BAM.

B.She promoted a donation to BAM from KIDBOX.

C.She held leading positions in both organizations.

D.She built a platform for them to communicate.

3What chiefly inspired Daniella to keep helping others?

A.The support from her parents.B.Carmel Valley’s traditional values.

C.Tijuana families’ happy reactions.D.The influence from her previous school.
