After the war,the Japanese chief of intelligence, Lt. General Seizo Arisue, admitted that his forces were never able to break the code used by the US Marine Corps(海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊) .Be?cause the Navajo code talkers were the secret code of the Marines, they were often heavily guarded.
The use of the Navajo Code was so successful that some code talkers were guarded by fel?low Marines, whose role was to kill them in case of possible capture by the enemy.
In 1942 ,when the original 29 code talkers developed their "secret weapon" ,there were a-bout 50,000 members of the Navajo nation. By the end of the war, 540 men had served as Ma?rines. At least 400 of those were trained as code talkers.
For decades following the war,the Navajos' contribution went unrecognized due to national security issues. It wasn't until 1968 that anyone outside the military knew about the code. The code talkers were even forbidden to tell their families about it. But in July of 2001 ,the President and Congress of the United States honored the 29 code creators. Only five were still alive. The remarks of President Bush expressed the late thankfulness of a nation whose victory in the Pacific may not have been possible without the Navajos. When the President spoke, he addressed the men whose grandfathers had made the "Long Walk" to their new home 78 years before the code talkers became Marines.
In 2002 the code talkers were honored with a movie that pictured their brave behavior:Windtalkers. For the first time, people everywhere learned their story.

Using fall decorations from nature is a fun and inexpensive way to spruce up the home. So today,I'm going to cover 5 tips for using fall decorations from nature!
First, plants and vegetable such as pine cones, small pumpkins, small gourds(葫蘆) ,thin sticks, and twigs with berries are easy to find and look great in many fall decorative arrange?ments. For best results, when collecting items for decorations from nature, always try to pick things that are already dry. Then, use an air drying method appropriate for each type of decora?tion to preserve them for decorative use.
To preserve pine cones and sticks found in nature, lay each pine cone and stick on sheets of newspaper in a warm dry room. The air drying process can take up to a few weeks,so check on them frequently to make sure the newspaper doesn't get wet underneath the pine cones and sticks. When it comes to preserving small pumpkins and gourds for your decorations, use a soft cloth to wipe off any moisture(潮氣) on the small pumpkins and gourds. Then, place each small pumpkin and gourd on sheets of newspaper in a warm, dry room and allow them to dry. Repeat?edly wipe off the pumpkins and gourds, and then also change the newspaper underneath until they are dried. This process can take several weeks or months.
Once the decorations are ready for use, there are many ways to display these decorations from nature.
For this first tip, place a red six-inch candle in the middle of a round plate and then sur?round the candle with pine cones to create a fall themed center piece.
Alternatively, for tip number two, place a deep orange colored six-inch candle on a plate and then use small pumpkins and gourds to surround the plate at the base of the candle for a fall harvest themed center piece.
For tip number three, place pine cones found in nature in a paper lined basket and this dec?orative arrangement can act as both a decorative arrangement in the home and a drying process for the pine cones.
For tip number four, after the sticks from nature have dried, loosely place them inside a tall clear vase to create a fun and easy fall themed decoration in the home.
Finally, for tip number five, wrap a small amount of foam(泡沫材料) in decorative paper and then place the foam in the bottom of a basket. Next, poke the dried twigs and sticks with the berries into the foam in the basket to create a lively berry basket arrangement.
