There are too many cars in our town now. For a result, there are lots of traffic jams, and the air which we will breathe is terrible. Our town is very old but all the streets are quite narrow, so there is no room for bus lanes, which mean that buses always get stuck in the traffic jams, too. However, lots of accidents with cyclists often happen because of crowded street. But I think there is a simple solution of these problems. The government should close city center to all traffic except buses and bikes, and build very larger car parks outside the town. Car drivers can take a bus into the city center and arrive at work or the shops relaxing and in a good mood.

【解析】
試題分析:作者所在的城鎮(zhèn)有太多的汽車,道路擁擠,作者對(duì)此提出了合理化建議。
【1】For→As 固定詞組:as a result結(jié)果,故把For改為As。
【2】去掉will 此處說的是一個(gè)事實(shí),應(yīng)用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)態(tài),故去掉will。
【7】of→to 固定搭配:the solution to...……的解決方法。故把of改為to。

【題目】Whenever anyone measures educational success, East Asian countries are always top scorers. But in a recent league table, a European country, Finland, was top of the class. South Korea was still in second place, though. Britain was at number 6.
In Korea the school day is longtypically 7 or 8 hours, followed by hours of private tutoring in the evenings. All_this_hothousing leaves Korean students so tired, they sometimes fall asleep in class next day. Worries about the effects of late night cramming (填鴨式) led the government to force cramming schools to close by 10 pm.Finnish children spend the least time in class in the developed world, often finishing just after lunch, with about one hour of homework a day. Private tuition is uncommon. The British and American school day is quite long in comparison, around 6 hours, and secondary school pupils do 2 or 3 hours of selfstudy a night.
The Korean education system, like many in Asia, is intensely competitive, with students even competing to get into the best cramming schools, to help them get ahead. Finnish education is far less cutthroat. Classes are all mixed ability, and there are no league tables. British schools again occupy the middle ground, with quite high levels of competition for places at university, and schools and universities battling to come top of league tables for everything from exam results to student satisfaction. Korea and Finland both do well, yet their education systems are so different.
However, there are some similarities in Korea and Finland. In those countries, teachers have high status in society, and education is very highly valued. Those attitudes can't change quickly. But it can be done. They might be the star pupils now, but until the 1970s, Finland's educational system was poor. Their thoroughly different approach to schooling has taken them to the top in just a generation.
【1】The students spend the least time in school in ________.
A. the UK B. Finland
C. the USA D. Korea
【2】The underlined phrase “all this hothousing” in Paragraph 2 probably refers to ________.
A. private evening tutoring
B. selfstudy at home
C. longhour study
D. school study
【3】From Paragraph 3, we can know that ________.
A. Finnish students are less stressed in study
B. there're also many cramming schools in Britain
C. students in Korea are the most competitive in Asia
D. British schools are less competitive than universities
【4】According to the author, the key to improving education is ________.
A. the attitude
B. the schooling time
C. star pupils
D. new teaching approach

【題目】My 17-year-old daughter went off to college and having her away from home brought back memories of watching Peter Pan when she was little. In the classic TV production, one scene in particular impressed me: when Mrs. Darling puts her children into bed. As she turns off the last of the night light, she takes one last look at the bedroom and says, “Dear night lights, protect my sleeping children.” As a mother, I know how much she loves her children.
It has been several weeks since we took our daughter to college and she seems to be adjusting well after a short period of homesickness. For us, though, it’s another story. Like most parents, I love checking in on my children at night. But now she’s gone, and I find night times the hardest. I miss her most at night.
In my neighborhood, most of the parents whose kids are off to college are dealing with similar melancholy. My husband is filled with anxiety. One friend talked about getting this sick feeling in her stomach as she prepared for the college drop-off. We complained that many of us were too busy to truly enjoy being with our children while we had them.
For us moms, seeing Toy Story 3 only made the sadness worse as we watched the character Andy, who is the same age as our kids, say goodbye to his childhood as he prepares to leave for college. And it’s not just “first-time” parents like me. Two moms who have kids already well into college said the separation didn’t get any easier. “You feel like something has been taken away from inside you” said one of them.
I imagine things will get easier with time, especially as I see my daughter adjust to college life. Meanwhile, as I keep my cell phone close to me in bed and text my daughter goodnight and sweet dreams every night, I like to think that messages serve as a night light that keeps her safe.
【1】The writer was deeply impressed by the scene in Peter Pan because ________.
A. the scene showed a mother’s deep love for her children
B. the scene was very exciting and interesting
C. the scene taught her and her daughter a good lesson
D. she watched the scene with her daughter
【2】After her daughter went to college, the writer ________.
A. realized she hadn’t done enough for her daughter
B. often cried as she missed her daughter so much
C. didn’t get used to the change for a long time
D. failed to have a good sleep every night
【3】What is the underlined word “melancholy” in Paragraph 3 similar in meaning to?
A. Happiness. B. Anger.
C. Excitement. D. Sadness.
【4】According to the last paragraph, why did the writer keep her cell phone close to her in bed?
A. To call her daughter any time.
B. To wait for her daughter’s calls.
C. To wait for her daughter’s messages.
D. To say good night to her daughter.
