It’s Nice to be Home
【1】 I have been fortunate enough to make trips to many countries. They were wonderful adventures filled with new sights and experiences. And my wife and I have another trip in the planning stages.
We're home now and have settled back into our daily routine of life.【2】 I find that when I am at home, particularly for a while when we have just returned from a trip,I feel very comfortable.Perhaps it is because everything around me is familiar and the daily routine is so much the same I can move through it almost without thinking.【3】Perhaps it is because we can have meals at home instead of always being in restaurants, although it's nice to let someone else do the cooking, and because I can sleep in my own bed. There are times I think it would be nice to simply stop travelling and stay home and I'm stile I would be very comfortable if that were to happen. 【4】
Yet I guess I am probably a restless soul because I know that after I have been home for a while I will start to think about other places we might go and other things we want to see.We will travel again and we feel fortunate to be able to do so.【5】 Still, one of the best things about travelling for me is coming home.I'm very comfortable here at home even if it is difficult to say exactly why.
A.I like to travel very much.
B.I enjoy local food while travelling.
C.I like being home,for
D.Perhaps it is because our friends are here.
E.And I enjoy my daily life at home so much.
F.We want to see as much of the world as we can.
G.It’s lucky that my wife and I both love travelling.
【答案】
【1】A
【2】E
【3】D
【4】C
【5】F
【解析】
試題分析:文中講述了作者旅行回來待在家里也會有很愜意的時光。
【1】A下文I have been fortunate enough to make trips to many countries可知與旅游有關,而符合題意的只有A和G,文意是我旅行到過很多國家,所以排除G(很幸運我和我的妻子都喜歡旅行),所以答案是A(我非常喜歡旅行)。
【2】E由下文I find that when I am at home, particularly for a while when we have just returned from a trip,I feel very comfortable可知旅行回來待在家里感到很舒適,所以此處說的是“我”也享受在家的生活,所以答案是E。
【3】D根據(jù)文意Perhaps it is because.......及Perhaps it is because.....可知此處使用的是排比句,所以此處也應是Perhaps it is because.....;符合題意的只有D選項。
【4】C前文There are times I think it would be nice to simply stop travelling and stay home and I'm stile I would be very comfortable if that were to happen可知“我”喜歡待在家里,承接下文我喜歡待在家里,任何理由都行,所以答案是C。
【5】F前文We will travel again and we feel fortunate to be able to do so提到說是會再一次旅行,根據(jù)選項可知此處是選擇再一次旅行的原因是多看看世界,所以答案是F。

【題目】When I found out I was moving to India, it was beyond a nightmare. It was something I couldn’t even imagine. The impression I had of India were only based upon a few summer visits to my grandparents, filled with heat, pollution and dirt. Even though I was only six years old, I know this would be a complete change from my comfortable life in Maryland.
During my first six months in India, my expectations were met almost exactly. I hated my new apartment; I missed my school and friends back in Maryland, and I was sick of all the dirty marketplaces that filled the streets of New Delhi.

【題目】閱讀下列短文 ,從每題所給的四個選項 (A 、B 、C 和 D )中 ,選出最佳選項。
Last year my summer holiday was ruined by my bringing along a modern convenience that was too convenient for my own good: the iPad. Instead of looking at nature, I checked my e-mail. Instead of paddling a small boat, I followed my Twitter feed(推特簡訊). Instead of reading great novels, I stuck to reading four newspapers each morning. I was behaving as if I were still in the office. My body was on vacation, but my head wasn’t.
So this year I made up my mind to try something different: avoiding the Internet. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, since I’m bad at self-control. But I was determined. I started by giving the iPad to my wife.
The cellphone signal at our house was worse than in the past, making my attempts at cheating an experience in defeat. I was trapped, forced to go through with my plan. Largely breaking away from e-mail, Twitter and my favorite newspaper websites, I had few ways to connect to the world except for the radio—and how much radio can one listen to, really? I had to do what I had planned to do all along: read books.
This experience has had a happy ending. With determination and the strong support of my wife, I won in my vacation struggle against the Internet, realizing finally that it was I, not the iPad, that was the problem. I knew I had won when we passed a Starbucks and my wife asked if I wanted to stop to use the Wi-Fi. “I don’t need it,” I said.
However, as we return to post-vacation life, a harder test begins: Can I continue when I’m back at work?
There are times when the need to know what’s being said right now is great. I have nointention of giving up my convenience completely. But I hope to resist the temptation to check my e-mail every five minutes, which leads to checking my Twitter feed and a website or two.
I think a vacation is supposed to help you rest your brain to become more productive. Here I hope this one worked.
