April 23rd is World Reading Day, this reminds us of the importance of reading. We are supposed to read more in that special day. But the situation for we to read nowadays is not satisfying.

For example, when we are at home, we would rather to watch TV or go on the Internet than read books. As a result, we spend such little time on books. However, reading books have many advantages. Not only can our abilities and skills be improving, but also we can get some information from reading. Beside, reading can bring us happiness.

I think it good habit that in our spare times we read more books of great use.

【1】this改為which或在this前面加and

【2】in改為on

【3】we改為us

【4】去掉to

【5】such改為so

【6】have改為has

【7】improving改為improved

【8】Beside改為besides

【9】it后面加a

【10】times改為time

【1】this改為which或在this前面加and 考查定語(yǔ)從句和并列句? 也可以把this改為關(guān)系代詞which,Which指代先行詞World Reading Day 引導(dǎo)非限制性定語(yǔ)從句。

【2】in改為on 考查介詞。

【3】we改為us 考查代詞。

固定結(jié)構(gòu)would rather do sth寧愿做某事。

句式such+名詞+that…如此…以至于…;當(dāng)名詞前面有many/much/few/little(少)的時(shí)候,要把such改為so。本句中l(wèi)ittle表示數(shù)量少,所以要把such改為so。

本句中it是形式賓語(yǔ),真正的賓語(yǔ)是后面的that從句,名詞habit是一個(gè)可數(shù)名詞,前面加a表示泛指。

We can achieve knowledge either actively or passively. We achieve it actively by direct experience, by testing and proving an idea, or by reasoning. We achieve knowledge passively by being told by someone else. Most of the learning that takes place in the classroom and the kind that happens when we watch TV or read newspapers or magazines is passive. Conditioned as we are to passive learning, it’s not surprising that we depend on it in our everyday communication with friends and co-workers.

Unfortunately, passive learning has a serious problem. It makes us tend to accept what we are told even when it is little more than hearsay and rumor.

Did you ever play the game Rumor? It begins when one person writes down a message but doesn’t show it to anyone. Then the person whispers it, word for word, to another person. That person, in turn, whispers it to still another, and so on, through all the people playing the game. The last person writes down the message word for word as he or she hears it. Then the two written statements are compared. Typically, the original message has changed.

That’s what happens in daily life. The simple fact that people repeat a story in their own words changes the story. Then, too, most people listen imperfectly. And many enjoy adding their own creative touch to a story, trying to improve on it, stamping it with their personal style. Yet those who hear it think they know.

This process is also found among scholars and authors: A statement of opinion by one writer may be re-stated as a fact by another, who mat in turn be quoted by yet another; and this process my continue, unless it occurs to someone to question the facts on which the original writer based his opinion or to challenge the interpretation he placed upon those facts.

【1】According to the passage, passive learning may occur in _________.

A. doing a medical experiment B. solving a math problem

C. visiting an exhibition D. doing scientific reasoning

【2】The underlined word “it” in paragraph 1 refer to _________.

A. active learning B. knowledge C. communication D. passive learning

【3】The author mentions the game Rumor to show that _________.

A. a message may be changed when being passed on

B. a message should be delivered in different ways

C. people may have problems with their sense of hearing

D. people tend not to believe in what they know as rumor

【4】what can we infer from the passage?

A. Active learning is less important.

B. Passive learning may not be reliable

C. Active learning occurs more frequently.

D. Passive learning is not found among scholars.

Today my classmate and I went to a farm for a trip. I get up at six o’ clock and we set off by bus. On the bus, some of us sang, and some of us talked. We all had good time. Two hours late, we arrived at the gate of the farm, that the farmers were waiting to give us a warm welcome. After we were shown around the big farm, they began to plant trees. It was really a good way to getting close to nature and protect the environment at the same time. Next , we had a picnic and it was great fun to eat on the open air. Finally, we went home at half past four. Although all of us was tired, our trip was really very more unforgettable.

A. Travel as often as possible

B. Provide great value to the world

C. Work hard and face great challenges

D. Make the very best of every situation

E. Spend time with friends who improve you

F. Work on something every day that moves you

Everyone hopes to live a long life. But how can you make your long life happy and meaningful? You can read on to find answers.

1Go traveling wherever you want and go to see one part of the world you’ve never seen before. You will not regret it. Traveling has less to do with seeing things, as it does with experiencing them. It has less to do with discovering something, as it does with discovering yourself. You run into all the good things and bad things about yourself on a daily basis if you travel to new places, and you are provided with the opportunity to grow far beyond your years.

2You can go through life and make new friends anytime, but no one can take the place of those persons who truly improve you. They are the most important people you will ever meet because they tear down the invisible walls you have built in your mind. In other words, they come into your life and help you develop your potential that you would never have been aware of without them.

3The road to greatness is far from easy. You can be absolutely certain that when you feel you are getting weaker from struggle, you are in fact growing stronger than you ever have been before. The more difficulties you meet and solve on your lifelong journey, the more meaningful your life story will be.

4One of the great secrets of happiness is freedom, and the secret of freedom is doing the best you can with what it done to you. It’s all about how you choose to respond to different situations. This simple choice makes a world of difference. If you find your situations tolerable, by all means tolerate them; if you find them intolerable, break through them. Eventually you are free because you alone are responsible for your thoughts and how you use them to improve your growth.

5The best way to get ahead in this world is not to complete with others, but to serve them. If you want to get a promotion at work, be good to your boss. If you want to build a successful business, be of service to your potential customers. Provide unmistakable value. Value is what makes relationships, businesses, and personal efforts grow. At any age, in any situation, for every possible life path, there is value you can provide. Success and happiness will come when you choose to work for the world.
