【題目】Dear Mr.ing,

I’m Bob Watson, one of the customers in your grocery store. I’m writing to express my idea about your goods.

Your Supermart is outstanding in many ways. First I enjoy the selection of produce and fresh bakery items. Second your low prices and excellent customer service keep me coming back to Supermart. I have found, however, that I must make a separate shopping trip to one of your competitors because there are many items your store does not carry. This becomes inconvenient for me, as my time is valuable, and I don’t like to make two trips. I have been a long time Supermart shopper and hope to continue for many years. If I could find all the items I need in one place, I would be a more satisfied customer.

Specifically, I have never been able to purchase nacho cheese soup at your store. I can find other flavors (味道) of soup, but your store does not carry nacho cheese soup, a common ingredient (原料) in many of my recipes. In addition, I can only find large wonton wrappers, while many other stores carry both large and small and offer a more varied selection for their customers. Another example is Regent Brand Chili Seasoning. Though it is not a leading brand, it is still common on the shelves of other grocery stores in this area and is superior in flavor to its competitors.

I sincerely hope to continue a relationship with your store, and I hope that you will consider the possibility of expanding your goods to be more competitive.

Yours truly,

Bob Watson

What is art? It is very difficult to come 1 with a thorough answer. Tons of people have their own opinions and think they know what art 2 (true) is. Most people’s answers are too general to distinguish what art is. Art is a creative form of work,3 (design) to have a purpose and show emotion.

I remember a mini house glued on paper for my family. Art has to have a connection between the artist and the actual art project itself. As is the case with the Statue of Liberty, and freedom.

Art’s final goal is 8 (stir) up some type of emotion. Plenty of artists express their feelings in a piece of art. Then the artist’s feelings 9 (absorb) by the audience, causing them to have 10 (emotion) reactions to the visual.

【題目】 This season, the bushfires in Australia have burned more than 12.35 million acres of land. At least 25 people have been killed and 2000 homes destroyed. According to the BBC, this is the most casualties(傷亡) from wildfires in the country since 2009. The University of Sydney estimates that 480 million animals have died in South Wales alone.

Zeke Hausfather, an energy systems analyst and climate researcher at Berkeley Earth, said warmer temperatures and extreme weather have made Australia more susceptible to fires and increased the length of the fire season. “The drier conditions combined with record high temperatures in 2019 created main conditions for the disastrous fires. Australia’s fires were worsened by the combination of those two. 2019 was the perfect storm for being the warmest year on record for Australia and the driest year on record for Australia,” Hausfather added on Friday.

Kevin Trenberth, a senior scientist at the US National Center for Atmospheric Research, said warmer ocean temperatures are also contributed to more variable weather around the world. Trenberth believes that global warming contributed to energy imbalances and hot spots in the oceans, which can create a wave in the atmosphere that locks weather patterns in places, causing longer rain events in Indonesia, for example, and at the same time contributing to drought in Australia. He said that once an area experiences drought conditions for two months or more, it increases the risk of fires catching and spreading. Those changing weather patterns due to global warming make drought events longer.

Climate experts stress that climate change is not the only factor in the severity of wildfires. How land is managed can also impact the amount of fuel available for fires. Practices like controlled burns and other factors can impact the risk to people and property, such as warning systems and the type of development in a given area. Changing those policies has great potential to limit future damage from wildfires along with changes to how fire management resources are dispatched(派遣).

1What do the numbers in paragraph 1 show?

A.The causes of Australian fires.

B.The results of Australian fires.

C.The damaged areas of Australian fires.

D.The property destruction of Australian fires.

2Which of the following best explains “more susceptible to” underlined in the second paragraph?

A.Quick to adapt to.B.Sure to cause.

C.Sensitive to.D.Easy to be protected from.

3What can we infer from Trenberth's research?

A.Global warming is the root cause of the bushfires.

B.Longer dry weather contributes to global warming.

C.Warmer ocean temperatures promote fires spreading.

D.The imbalanced energy leads to the temperature rising.

4What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph?

A.To stress the effects of Australia fires.

B.To show the methods for controlling burns.

C.To predict the seriousness of Australia fires.

D.To provide some advice about reducing damage.

Many well-established bookshops have closed and that trend is continuing today, despite their efforts 1 (survive) by offering a cafe or children's activities as well.

There are three main reasons for this trend. First, increasingly more people2 (give)up reading over the past ten years. Second, quite a high percentage of people 3 continue reading have changed from reading paper books to e-books. Third? of the 4 (limit) number of those who continue reading paper books, a high percentage buy them online instead of from physical bookstores.

Bookstores are providing leisure activities and coffeehouses inside. However, as 5recent survey shows, these measures seem to be of little help. It would be a shame if physical bookstores were to disappear 6 (complete). Bookstores are more than “places selling books", they are cultural palaces. A city 7 bookstores is not culturally rich.

However, bookstores cannot survive the fierce market8(compete) and they are failing. The economic burden is so heavy and their profit so thin9they cannot continue existing. In order to prevent bookstores from totally 10 (disappear) , both the government and the society should help find good ways.
