Recently I found a donation box in my neighborhood. People come to them when they have old clothes, bags, newspapers and books donate. This box, I think, was of great significance. My mother buys me a lot of clothes, and I grow so fast. Much clothes don’t fit for me any longer. I’ve got no ideas about how to deal with the clothes which are real new and still in good condition. However, with this donation box, I can help those people in need. In a word, I do think it is a good idea what lights up our life and makes the world the better place to live in.

此處指代前面提到的“a donation box”,故them改為it。

have sth to do表示“有某事/物要做”,此處需要用不定式作后置定語,故donate前面加上to。

much修飾不可數(shù)名詞,many修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù),故Much改為Many。

此處的idea是不可數(shù)名詞,have no idea表示“不知道、不清楚”,故ideas改為idea。

Kusa, a 10-year-old boy, has looked out for his big sister, 12-year-old Pahnuly, for as long as he can remember. At school, he helps her unpack her things at her locker. At home, they read together, play games and practice counting.

Pahnuly has autism (自閉癥). People with autism often have trouble talking with others. They might repeat things over and over, or be interested in only one subject. But it was Pahnuly that inspired Kusa to think differently. One day, they played ping-pong with their parents at home in Brooklyn Park. But Pahnuly struggled with it. So Kusa wanted to find a way to make it more suited to his sister’s needs. He came up with a new game based on ping-pong. It is called Aeropong because the ball seems to float in the air. In Aeropong, a ping-pong ball hangs from a frame. The players hit the ball back and forth. It’s kind of like tennis, but no one has to chase the ball.

At first, Pahnuly didn’t show much interest. But soon, Kusa heard a sound coming from the front room. Clack(吧嗒聲). Clack. Clack. Pahnuly had picked up a paddle (乒乓球拍) and was tapping the ball. Then, she started hitting it back and forth with Kusa and their dad. Eventually, the family took a trip to Menards to buy some PVC pipes and fashioned a portable frame for the ball to hang from. They also designed rules and ways to score points.

Word spread at school about Kusa’s game. His teacher, Stasica, asked him to tell his class about Aeropong. Kusa was usually shy, but when he talked about his game, his face lit up with excitement, Stasica said. Kusa told his classmates the game was meant to make people smile, especially his big sister. "When she scores," he said, "she dances."

Paragraph 1:

Aeropong has become an essential family activity in Kusa’s home.

Happiness is like a small stone1 (drop) into a pool to cause a circle of ripples.2 Stevenson has said, being happy is a duty. There is no exact definition of the word “happiness”. Happy people are happy3 all sorts of reasons. The key is not wealth or physical well-being, since we find4 (home) people, disabled people and so-called losers are extremely happy.

Being happy is a sort of unexpected gain. But staying happy is5 accomplishment, a success of soul and character. Actually it is not selfish to strive for it. It is, indeed, a duty to ourselves and others.

Being unhappy is like an infectious disease. It causes people6 (stay) away from the sufferer. He soon finds himself alone. There is, however, a cure for it: if you don’t feel happy, pretend to be.

It works. Before long you will find that instead of repelling people, you attract them. You will discover 7 deeply rewarding it is to be the center of wider and wider circles of good will. Then the make-believe becomes a8 (real). You become really happy.

Being happy, once it is recognized as a duty and develops into a habit, 9 (open) doors into amazing gardens which are full of10 (thank)friends.
