Square dancing has been more and more popular with the elderly as their living conditions improve. Most people thought it can help people take regularly exercise and improve their fitness. Besides, it provides people more chances to take activities outdoor. However, some people argue that the music is very noisy, that disturbs the surrounding citizens’ normal life. Also, be exposed to such loud noise may do a harm to their health in the long run.

In my opinion, square dancing is a good form of exercise, so dancers should take our neighbors’ needs into consideration. If they choose a right time and turn down the music, it will cause less troubles for others.

Life is full of variously experiences, some of them are unforgettable. I still remember the hiking experiences with my classmates for 16 kilometers a year later. That summer day, we set off early in the morning, think it would be a great fun to walk for so long a distance. However, with the weather getting hotter and hotter, I found their legs heavier and heavier. Worse still, my feet began bleeding because being pressed against the shoes a long time. At one point, I even wanted to give up. But I manage to drag the rest of the way to the destination. Though not pleasant, this journey was impressive or rewarding. I have learned that life is a long journey like this. No matter what happens, we should never give up.

【題目】 The number of snow geese arriving in the Arctic each spring to breed has risen over the past few decades. At first, wildlife biologists saw this as an environmental crisis, pointing to marshes(沼澤地)where plants were eaten by the hungry birds, and the federal government responded by loosening restrictions on snow goose hunting across the country. But how do the Inuit(因紐特人),in whose backyard this is taking place, and for whom fresh goose eggs and meat are among the pleasure of an Arctic spring, view the situation? A recent study is bringing Inuit wildlife experts and scientists together to look for common ground on managing the species.

The snow goose study asked experts in Coral Harbour and Arviat, on the north and west coast of Hudson Bay, to share their generations of knowledge about snow geese and their views on what should be done. “ The community had concerns about controlling the population," says Ron Ningeongan, a community officer for the Kivalliq Inuit Association in Coral Harbour, "and Inuit snow goose knowledge had never been recorded. People wanted to pass on what they knew. "

The Inuit experts rejected the idea of a cull(選擇性宰殺),considering it wasteful of the geese and unnecessary for the environment in general, but felt that hunting more geese in an organized way—for instance, paying local hunters a minimum amount of money and distributing the birds to disadvantaged families or operating a limited commercial hunt that would employ local people—would be appropriate.

The Inuit say that while there may be too many snow geese in some areas, it's not a crisis. Biologists now generally agree that there seem to be plenty of undamaged marshes available and newer research shows that some damaged areas can recover.

Conservation planners for the three migratory bird reserves in the area will use the study's recommendations, which is an excellent example of how indigenous (土著的) knowledge can strengthen wildlife management Johnson says.

“Now that we have recorded and documented Inuit knowledge of snow geese," says Ningeongan. "when facing the crisis again, other people will be able to use the information to help manage the species, which is fundamental to dealing with it effectively. ”

【題目】 They block entrances, crowd street corners and tip onto their sides, turning a convenient form of transportation into a sidewalk danger that is particularly dangerous for the elderly and disabled.

Now a new California company is working on a possible solution for stopping the chaos caused by electric scooters(滑板車)in cities around the country. The company, known as Swift mile, has unattended charging stations for e-scooters that are designed to serve as a place where riders can park the scooters between rides. The company’s founder, Colin Roche, said the sola-powered charging stations-which can accommodate any brand of e-scooter-are most suitable for areas that are often crowded with the scooters, such as bus and subway stations.

As the weather warms and ridership increases, that struggle is expected to intensify. On one. side of the debate, experts say, are cities whose leaders want to reduce traffic and encourage alternative, environmentally-friendly patterns of transportation to battle against climate change and promote innovation(創(chuàng)新). Some local officials also fear that restricting scooter companies will cast cities in an outdated light, discouraging technology companies from doing business there in the future. On the other side of the debate are critics who have complained about e-scooter companies for blocking walkways and selling a product whose use has led to thousands of injuries among riders and pedestrians, many of them severe.

Pat Burt, a former Palo Alto mayor who is currently advising Swift mile, said the future of e-scooters could depend heavily on what happens in 2019. Cities have identified the benefits of e-scooters as well as the. drawbacks, which could become existential for the companies. “If the. safety and other problems aren’t addressed, I think cities will restrict them even more, “he said. “But there’s a good chance scooters will be adopted universally if these problems get solved. ”

1What is the main idea of the first paragraph?

A.The elderly are easy to get injured.B.E-scooters are difficult to find.

C.Many problems are caused by e-scooters.D.New inventions provide people with convenience.

2What can e-scooter owners do at the charging station?

A.Park their e-scooters.B.Get their e-scooters repaired.

C.Have their e-scooters cleaned.D.Charge their e-scooters for free.

3What benefits can e-scooters bring to the cities?

A.Attracting more tourists.B.Reducing traffic pressure.

C.Making the roads much safer.D.Increasing the local company’s profits.

4What decides the future of e-scooters according to Pat Burt?

A.The public’s attitude.B.The improvement of traffic.

C.The solving of present problems.D.The benefits of the new business model.
