【1】not→no
【2】would→will
【3】recent→ recently
【4】prepared→preparing
【5】that→which
【6】intending→intended
【8】the→ an
【9】our →my
【10】well后加as
【1】not→no 考查否定。not后接名詞時(shí)需用冠詞,所以需將not改為no,no problem意為“沒(méi)問(wèn)題”。
【2】would→will 考查時(shí)態(tài)。這里時(shí)態(tài)為一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),所以需將would改為will。
該句為現(xiàn)在完成進(jìn)行時(shí),其結(jié)構(gòu)為have/has been doing sth,所以需將prepared改為preparing。
【5】that→ which考查關(guān)系代詞。
be intended for為……
【8】the→an 考查冠詞。have an opportunity“有一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)”,這里表示泛指。
【9】our →my 考查物主代詞。
【10】well后加as 考查短語(yǔ)。as well as“并且,和”,后面跟句子。

Every fast-food employee knows that the drive-through window is the worst position. The window sticks with constant ice; the roar of engines hurts your 1; your words are lost in the howling wind.
On a 2 afternoon, everything changed.
Every once in a while, the sub-zero temperatures seal a 3 windows shut. Drivers don't exactly enjoy having to stand outside in the cold, 4 their orders into a speaker box, when they expect to drive through on their heated leather seats. In such cases, most customers tend to show their annoyance to the employees.
This woman was 5.
“I'll get the next car's 6 as well,” she said as she came up to the window to pay. She stood outside, 7 much snow on her hair. Though she was obviously freezing, her bright 8 lit up her face like a fire.
“You can't 9 their drinks,” I said, confused and tired.
“No, but I'll buy them,” she said. “Pay it forward and all that.”
Completely puzzled, I charged her as 10, and when the next customer arrived at the window I explained what had just happened. I watched as his 11 changed — first angry to be out in the cold, then 12 at the random act of kindness, and finally, delighted by his 13.
“I suppose I'll pay for the next order then,” he replied, nodding and waving at the impatient driver 14 him. He 15 over the cash and received his pre-paid hot drink. The trend continued. Customers arrived annoyed, only to leave 16 and pleased. Some were shocked to spend much more than they had expected, 17 others ended up receiving their order for less than half the price.
Five vehicles passed, then ten, then twenty. No one refused to pay. Customers stood at my window 18 a fist-full of change to buy drinks for a complete stranger. Cars drove off, honking (鳴笛) and 19 their thanks.

In 1841, a book was published which astonished the world. It was called “Incidents of Travel in Central America, Chiapas and Yucatan”. The author John Loud Stephens had just returned from a long, difficult and dangerous journey through the thick rain forest of southern Mexico and Guatemala. He had once been there with Frederick Catherwood, an architect and artist, to search for the remains of a lost civilization known as the Mayas(瑪雅). Very little was known about the Mayas at that time, but Catherwood's drawing in the book showed incredible cities with temples, pyramids and other buildings as impressive as those of their northern neighbors, the Aztecs. These cities, however, were deserted. The inhabitants(居民) had disappeared almost a thousand years before.
Since that time, far more has been learned about this remarkable civilization. The Mayas had a highly-developed system of government and of agriculture, as well as an incredibly accurate system of measuring time. They were also wonderful engineers capable of moving huge blocks stone long distances and cutting them to accurate shapes and sizes.
And yet although the Mayas knew about the wheel, they never used it. Neither did they use metals other than copper. What is ever more surprising is that they suddenly abandoned many of their cities and built new ones in the jungle. Some time around AD 900, Mayan civilization collapsed(崩潰). By the year 1200, their last great capital,
Who were these strange people and the even stranger gods they worshipped? What brought about their sudden and mysterious collapse? Some writers have tried to prove that the Mayas had contact with visitors from space and even that they themselves came from another planet. Some people believe that their civilization came to an end because the Mayas never developed a proper resistance to local germs and diseases. All we really know is that when the first Europeans appeared off their coast in 1517, this great and mysterious culture was only a memory.

Camping wild is a wonderful way to experience the natural world and, at its best, it makes little environmental influence. But with increasing numbers of people wanting to escape into the wilderness, it is becoming more and more important to camp unobtrusively(不引人注意地)and leave no mark.
Wild camping is not permitted in many places, particularly in crowded lowland Britain. Wherever you are, find out about organizations responsible for managing wild spaces, and contact them to find out their policy on camping and shelter building. For example, it is fine to camp wild in remote parts of Scotland, but in England you must ask the landowner’s permission, except in natural parks.
Camping is about having relaxation, sleeping outdoors, experiencing bad weather, and making do without modern conveniences. A busy, fully-equipped campsite(野營(yíng)地)seems to go against this, so seek out smaller, more remote places with easy access to open spaces and perhaps beaches. Better still, find a campsite with no road access: walking in makes a real adventure.
Finding the right spot to camp is the first step to guaranteeing a good night’s sleep. Choose a campsite with privacy and minimum(最小化的) influence on others and the environment. Try to use an area where people have obviously camped before rather than creating a new spot. When camping in woodland, avoid standing dead trees, which may fall on a windy night. Avoid animal runs and caves, and possible homes of biting insects. Make sure you have most protection on the windward side. If you make a fire, do so downwind of your shelter. Always consider what influence you might have on the natural world. Avoid damaging plants. A good campsite is found, not made—changing it should be unnecessary.
【1】You needn’t ask for permission when camping in ________.
A.national parks in England
B.most parts of Scotland
C.crowded lowland Britain
D.most parts of England
【2】The last paragraph mainly deals with ________.
A.protecting animals
B.building a campfire
C.camping in woodland
D.finding a campsite with privacy
【3】The passage is mainly about ________.
A.the protection of campsites
B.the importance of wild camping
C.the human influence on campsites
D.the dos and don’ts of wild camping

Quick tips for better time management
Are you a good time manager? If your answer is “no”, here are some tips on how to be a better time manager:
1. Create a daily plan. Plan your day before it starts. The plan gives you a good description of how the day will go on. That way, you will be ready to deal with most of the things you meet. 【1】2. Focus. Are you multi-tasking so much that you’re just not getting anything done? 【2】 Only focus on what you’re doing. You’ll be more efficient that way.
3. Stay away from your time wasters. What takes your time away from your work? QQ? Email checking? 【3】One thing you can do is make it hard to check them— remove them from your browser quick links.
【4】Don’t take on more than you can deal with. For the distractions that come in when you’re doing other things, give a firm no. Or do it later.
5. Decide to be early. When you prepare to be on time, you’ll either be on time or late. 【5】However, if you decide to be early, you’ll most likely to be on time. For appointments, try to be early. For your deadlines, meet them earlier than required.

B. Most of the time you’ll be late.
C. Great ways to know your time spent.

When I lived in Spain, some Spanish friends of mine decided to visit England by car. Before they left, they asked me for advice about how to find accommodation. I suggested that they should stay at “bed and breakfast” houses, because this kind of accommodation gives a foreign visitor a good chance to speak English with the family. My friends listened to my advice, but they came back with some funny stories.
“We didn’t stay at bed and breakfast houses,” they said, “because we found that most families were on holiday.” I thought this was strange. Finally I understood what had happened. My friends spoke little English, and they thought “VACANCIES” meant “holidays”, because the Spanish word for “holidays” is said “vacaciones”. So they did not go to house where the sign outside said “VACANCIES”, which in English means there are free rooms. Then my friends went to houses where the sign said “NO VACANCIES”, because they thought this meant people who owned the house were not away on holiday. But they found that these houses were all full. As a result, they stayed at hotels.
We laughed about this and about mistakes my friends made in reading other signs. In Spanish, the word “DIVERSION” means “fun”. In English, it means that workmen are repairing the road, and that you must take a different road. When my friends saw the word “DIVERSION” on a road sign, they thought they were going to have fun. Instead, the road ended in a large hole.
English people have problems too when they learn foreign languages. Once in Paris when someone offered me some more coffee, I said “Thank you” in French, I meant that I would like some more, however to my surprise the coffee pot was taken away! Later I found out that “Thank you” in French means “No, Thank you”.
【1】 The author’s Spanish friends wanted advice about _______.
A. some funny English stories
B. finding places to stay in England
C. driving their car on English roads
D. going to England by car
【2】The author suggested that they stay at “bed and breakfast” because _______.
A. it would be convenient for them to have dinners and live
B. it would be much cheaper than staying in hotels
C. they would be able to practice their English in the house
D. there would be no problem about finding accommodation there
【3 】“NO VACANCIES” in English means _______.
A. no free rooms B. free rooms
C. not away on holiday D. they don’t live
【4】If you see road sign that says “Diversion” in England, you will _______.
A. take the road and you will be excited
B. have a lot of fun and enjoy yourself
C. find that the road is blocked by crowds of people
D. have to take a different road

Last weekend, I went to the nursing house with some volunteer to visit the elderly. On arriving at there, we found some old people seating in the yard, expecting us. We went forward to greet them. Some of us chat with them happily, but others read newspapers for them. The scene looked so nicely. At 10100, we put on performances, like singing and dancing. Then they played games together! How great fun it was!
I had great day in the nursing house that day. As the elderly needs our love and care, I decide to visit them every month.
