all of a sudden表示“突然”,故sudden前加a

句意參考第八處解析,it takes sb time to do sth表示“某人花多少時(shí)間做某事”,故getting 改為get。

How Steven Spielberg Stays Inspired

Ask a young person who the greatest American film director is, and you may get the answer Steven Spielberg, 1 has certainly made more successful films than any other director in the West.

Spielberg was born in America in 1946. What he impressed others most was 2 he had unusual abilities when he was very young: completing his first 15-minute home movie at 13. He earned $100 at the age of 16, 3 he made a 135-minute home movie called Firelight and it was shown at a local cinema.

A Hollywood film studio employed Spielberg to make a full-length film Sugarland Express on discovering his talent for movie-making. His next film was Jaws, a film about a shark that ate people. This was one of 4 (successful) films of all times. He received the Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes (金球獎(jiǎng)) in 2009.

Despite all his outstanding achievements in his field, some of his films have been less successful in the last fifteen years. But people can never deny the fact 5 he, more than anyone else in the history of films, understands the meaning of the word “entertainment”.

Now, Spielberg’s role as a father of seven has taught him a great deal about 6 makes a good story — at bedtime and otherwise. When his kids were growing up, he’d tell them stories every night7 he could stay active in film-making.

“In the past few years, I8 (inspire) by everybody who makes a good movie,” Spielberg said.” “I can’t risk 9 (lose) my followers’ passion for film.” Also, he owes (歸因) his success to his attempt10 (keep) working and so he looks to his contemporaries (同時(shí)代的人) for that kind of ... current inspiration.

The summer job is a tradition among American university students. Long after the end of the school year, students start their summer vacation job search. They send letters to businesses, going to job interviews, and ask our friends and relatives for help. By June the students usually have been found their jobs and then they begin preparing to enter the world of works.

Reasons for wanting a summer job differs from student to student. Some work help pay their school expenses, others work to gain experience in their chosen professions and still others work just for the funny of it. Salesmen or waiters are two of the more common jobs that students try to find during the summer months.

【題目】 Happy, angry, amazed—these are some of the emotions we like to express these days when we’re sending a message on our smart phones! That’s why many of us now add little pictures to our texts to brighten up someone’s mobile screen but we’re also using them as a quick way of telling someone how we’re feeling. Yes, emojis (表情符號(hào)) have become a popular tool for communication.

The emoji was first invented in Japan in the late 1990s and the word “emoji” comes from the Japanese words for “picture” and “character”. The number of different images has greatly increased since then and now we have a picture for nearly every mood or situation.

Why are emojis widely used today? Professor Vyv Evans says, “Increasingly, what we’re finding is that digital communication is replacing face-to-face talk in some ways. One of the reasons why emojis are so interesting is that they really do enable us to express our emotional selves much more effectively.”

Another advantage of emojis is that they are an international language—they don’t use words but tell a message with pictures so they can be easily understood whatever your native language is.

But as linguist (語言學(xué)家) Neil Cohn says, “To many, emojis are an exciting evolution (進(jìn)化) of the way we communicate; but to others, they are linguistic Armageddon.” It does show by using emojis, there is a lot more to our communication than words alone, but does this also mean that the traditional writing will die out one day?

1What is implied(暗示) in Paragraph 2?

A.The emoji was first invented in Japan.

B.The word “emoji” only means “picture” and “character”.

C.More and more pictures are used to express our mood today.

D.The number of emoji images will increase rapidly in the future.

2Why do people use emojis so widely?

A.Emojis can never be misunderstood.

B.Emojis are similar to some native languages.

C.Emojis make us communicate more effectively.

D.Emojis can replace face-to-face communication.

3What is the structure of the passage?

A.B.C.D.

My family took an amazed trip to the northwest last summer. At the first ,we flew to Lanzhou but then visited the famous Iron Bridge there. We also tasted Lanzhou beef noodles, which were the most delicious noodles I had never had. Two days late, we went to the Mogao caves on the Silk Road. That impressed me most was the fantastic wall paintings. Finally,we reach our final destination, the Qinghai Lake, surrounded by mountains. The scenery was unbelievable beautiful. We found volunteers collecting rubbishes along the bank and we joined them too. Only then I realize we could make a difference to our environment.
