9.請閱讀下面短文,并按要求以O(shè)ur Life Rests on Our Choice為題,用英語寫一篇150詞左右的文章.
Life is a matter of choice.Seemingly,it means a choice of concrete (具體的) things.But in fact,it means choosing a way of life.Life is to be lived and enjoyed,not to be wasted or complained about.
Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the threat from the life-and death disease---SARS.Yet,even during those dreadful times,some suffering people remained optimistic.Instead of wearing white masks,some people turned to colorful ones,and thus displayed a happy mood.And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean"SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING."People who survive these kinds of circumstances decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the hardships.
Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities (逆境),we do have the right to choose to live optimistically,to love our lives,to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.
Every morning when we get up,we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day.

The small planet---given the name 2012VP 113 by scientists---is 80 times further from the Sun than the Earth.The newly discovered planet is 280 miles in diameter (直徑) and is in a distant area of the solar system beyond Pluto (冥王星) once thought to contain no planets at all.

Astronomers now believe there may be thousands of previously unknown objects orbiting the Sun at this distance.And they believe that the pattern of the new planet's orbit suggests it is caused by the gravitational pull (引力) of a Super Earth that traces such a large orbit around the Sun that it has never been seen.
Astronomer Scott Sheppard, who found the new planet with his colleague,Chad Trujillo, said,"If you took a Super Earth and put it a few hundred astronomical units out, the gravity could shepherd (引導(dǎo)) this new object into the orbit it has."

Beyond this belt only one object,called Sedna,was thought to exist on its own.But the latest discovery suggests that our solar system has a number of planets at its edges.

4."A room without books is like a body without a soul,"observed the Roman philosopher,Cicero.It can also be a sign of financial problems to come.New research has uncovered a strong connection between the earning of adults and whether they grew up surrounded by books as children
Three economists at the University of Padua-Giorgio Brunello,Guglielmo Weber and Christoph Weiss-studied 6000 men born in nine European countries and concluded that children with access to books could expect to earn more money than those who grew up with few or no books.
They studied the period from 1920 to 1956,when school reforms saw the minimum school leaving age raised across Europe.They booked at whether,at the age of 10,a child lived in a house with fewer than 10books,a shelf of books,a bookcase with up to 100 books, two bookcases,or more than two bookcases.
Over the period studied,the research,published in The Economic Journal,found that an additional year of education increased a man's average lifetime earnings by 9%.Men brought up in houses with less than a shelf of books earned only 5% more as a result of the extra year's education,compared with 21% more for those who had access to a lot of books.Ands those who had access to books were more likely to move to the better-earning opportunities in cities than those without books.The men's first job was also much more likely to be a white-collar job
The economists offer a number of theories for the results."perhaps books matter because they encourage children to read more and reading can have positive effects on school performance,"they said.
The number of books in children's homes can effectively predict their cognitive(認(rèn)知的)test scores.This may indicate a home that encourages cognitive skills,which are important for economic success in life.

B.They all left school because of school reforms
C.They came form several different countries

Her owner Mike Holden panicked and called the coastguard of Cornwall, who turned up in seconds.Six volunteers slid down the cliff with the help of a rope but gave up all hope of finding her alive after a 90minute search.
Three days later,a hurricane hit the coast near Cornwall.Mr.Holden returned home from his holiday upset and convinced his pet was dead.He comforted himself with the thought she had died in the most beautiful part of the country.
For the next two weeks, the Holdens were heartbroken. Then, one day,the phone rang and Steve Tregear, the coastguard of Cornwall, asked Holden if he would like his dog back.
