Lleyton Hewitt was born in Adelaide, Australia on 24 February, 1981. His mother is a former champion netballer, his father is a league footballer, and his sister is already ranked number one in Australia for her age in tennis. She has achieved already more in tennis than Lleyton had at the same age.
The Hewitts have a grass court at their home. This was where young Lleyton began his tennis career. When Lleyton showed an unusual ability for a 4-year-old and he was hitting balls consistently over the net, his parents decided it was time to find him a coach.
“Rather than get into bad habits, it was best he learnt how to hit the ball correctly.” says his father. Two years later, they got Peter Smith as his coach.
At the age of five, when most children that age are playing hide and seek or getting into all sorts of trouble, Lleyton and his family would make the trip to Melbourne for the Australian Open. Lleyton would sit for up to 12 hours a day watching players practise.
Lleyton’s career as a tennis player was planned by his parents who tried their best to keep him away from football. Lleyton’s parents thought it was too risky to play football since he might get hurt. Had Lleyton played football, it is quite possible he may have ended up playing for his favorite team—the Adelaide Crows. As his mother says, “I guess we’ve guided him into things we felt good for him before he did.”
By the time Lleyton was eight, he was winning “under-10 games” and always won a year ahead of his age. A professional career was looking very promising. Lleyton officially turned pro in 1997.
【1】Why does Lleyton’s parents disapprove of him playing football?
A. They want him to learn from his sister.
B. They think playing football is dangerous.
C. They think tennis is more potential.
D. They can’t afford a coach.
【2】From the passage, we know “the Adelaide Crows” is ________.
A. a basketball team B. a football team
C. a university D. a company
【3】We can infer from the passage that________.
A. Lleyton’s parents decide everything for their son.
B. Lleyton’s sister is more famous than him
C. Lleyton showed a talent for football at a very young age.
D. Lleyton works very hard to achieve his dream.
【4】What’s the best title of the passage?
A. A sports family B. A wise decision
C. A tennis star D. A promising career.
【1】B
【2】B
【3】D
【4】C
根據(jù)第五段中的…h(huán)is parents who tried their best to keep him away from football. Lleyton’s parents thought it was too risky to play football since he might get hurt.
根據(jù)第五段倒數(shù)第二句“Had Lleyton played football, it is quite possible he may have ended up playing for his favorite team—the Adelaide Crows.”
A sports family 運動之家;B. A wise decision明智的選擇;C. A tennis star 網(wǎng)球巨星; D. A promising career.

The summer I turned 16, my father gave me a car, which permitted Hannah and me to drive around Tucson whenever we wanted to.
Hannah was my best friend. “Hannah’s amazing," my mother always said. And sure enough, that summer she signed with a modeling agency. She was already doing runway work.
One day, Hannah and I went to the movies. On the way home, we stopped at the McDonald's drive-through, putting the fries on the seat between us to share. "Let’s ride around a while," I said. It was a clear night, moonlight shone over the desert. Taking a turn too fast, I hit a patch of dirt and fishtailed.
French fries on the floor. An impossible amount of blood on Hannah’s face. They took us in separate ambulances. In the ER, my parents spoke quietly: Best plastic surgeon in the city. End of her modeling career.
We'd been wearing lap belts, but the car didn’t have shoulder harnesses. I’d cracked my cheekbone; Hannah's forehead had split wide open. What would I say to her?
When her mother, Sharon, came into my hospital room, I started to cry, bracing myself for her anger. She sat beside me and took my hand. “I almost ended my best friend when I was your age,” she said, “I totaled her car and mine.”
“I'm so sorry,”I said.
“You’re both alive,”she said, “The rest is window dressing.” I started to protest, and Sharon stopped me. “I forgive you. Hannah will too.”
Sharon’s forgiveness allowed Hannah and me to stay friends throughout life. I think of her gift of forgiveness every time I want to resent someone for a perceived wrong. And whenever I see Hannah, the scars are a symbol of grace for me.
【1】What caused the car accident?
A.Poor visibility.B.Driving too fast.C.Hitting a patch of dirt.D.Not staying focused.
【2】Which word can best describe Hannah’s mother?
A.Supportive.B.Generous.C.Optimistic.D.Helpful.
【3】What result did the accident cause to Hannah and the author?
A.It worsened their friendship.B.It made both of the two disabled.
C.It changed Hannah's working career.D.It ruined the author’s confidence in driving.
【4】Which is the best title for the text?
A.Lucky SurvivalB.Lifelong Friendship
C.My Best Friend HannahD.Learning to Forgive
