【題目】 I have three kids and a great husband and I’m enjoying a career that I find challenging and fun. This feels like “Success” to the outside world. But there is still a voice in my heart asking if this is who I truly am. Only in silence do I hear the self and wonder who that person might be.
So I booked a trip to find out. I travelled, for the first time, without my husband or kids.I went to Iceland with a friend, who shares an appreciation for wilderness and silence.
For six days, we were immersed in wild, raw scenery and real weather—all kinds of weather. Climbing a mountain against rain and returning to a tent for a simple meal reminds you how little you actually need. And how strong it feels to be uncomfortable sometimes.
I found silence in Iceland, and time to consider the me outside of career and the me outside of kids as I shared stories with strangers.
When I stopped talking and just listened,I became more generous.I 1earned that choosing to be generous can create more space, more food and more warmth.
But I didn’t really gain any better appreciation of what I want from life or my job.I suspect the anxiety that drove me to seek silence in Iceland was losing sight of my ability to choose gratitude and joy,and to be present in the challenges I set in my career and my family.
I came home to noise, rush and love;with no less confusion on who I want to be.I know the answer isn’t waiting out there on the top of a mountain in Iceland. The answer is in front of me with every step on my own 1ife’s path, and in every choice I make.

【題目】Zero gravity looks cool. But what about the thing no one likes to talk about? Yes, that is right: going to the bathroom. Zero gravity makes this everyday task quite a challenge. Astronauts have to be toilet-trained all over again.
The Apollo astronauts raised themselves off the seat of their chairs and stuck a clear plastic bag to their back sides with sticky strips. A second astronaut watched closely to be sure no waste matter escaped the seal. (You would not want that stuff floating around the cabin!) When the deed was done, the astronaut cleaned up with a piece of plastic attached to the inside of the bag, removed the bag, dropped a disinfectant(消毒劑) pill in with the waste matter, and put the whole thing, sealed, into a special container.
Donald W. Rethke, an engineer for Hamilton Standard Space Systems, developed a more private way to answer nature’s call: the space toilet. It is somewhat like the kind of toilet one would find on commercial airplanes--with unique adaptations for zero gravity, of course. For instance, it has thigh bars that keep the astronaut from floating off the seat.
The astronaut (male or female) defecates (排便) in a bag and urinates (排尿) in a hose. Solid and liquid wastes are kept separated because at least 85% of the urine is recycled and, yes, after careful filtration(過(guò)濾), used for drinking and other purposes. (Water is always in demand in space.) A vacuum sucks the waste materials into the toilet, where the waste is compacted into hamburger-like patties for easy storage. Although not exactly like an earthbound visit to the toilet, it is at the very least much more private than in the early days of space travel.
【1】According to the first paragraph, the lack of the gravity can turn something as simple as _______ into a major challenge.
A. eating B. answering nature’s call
C. sleeping D. going to the restroom
【2】How did astronauts use toilet systems in the Apollo days?
A. None of the waste was separated as it is now.
B. Solid waste was compressed and stored on board.
C. The toilet units used water to remove the waste through the system.
D. The astronauts each used their own private restroom.
【3】To ensure the user remains seated, the toilet comes equipped with _______
A. a plastic bag B. a sticky strip
C. a wide hose D. a thigh bar
【4】What can be inferred from the fact that most of the astronauts’ urine is recycled?
A. The recycled water tastes better. B. Water is limited on the space shuttle.
C. It is very convenient to get their urine recycled. D. Space science includes recycling urine.

【題目】March 25, 2020
Dear students and parents.
As our state continues to fight against the spread of COVID-19, the State Board of Education has voted to authorize the closure of all public schools in Oklahoma for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
Jenks Public Schools (JPS) will be transitioning to distance learning beginning April 6 through the end of the school year. All JPS school buildings and facilities will remain closed until further notice. All activities, athletic events, club meetings, school sponsored trips are canceled for the 2019-20 school year.
JPS administrators are working on plans for a district-wide distance learning program. Please be patient over the next week as these plans are finalized. As soon as more information is available, you will be notified.
The time being missed due to the coronavirus-related closure will not have to be made up. Summer will not be shortened and as of now, the start of the 2020-21 school year will not be delayed.
We recognize the disappointment and difficulty this closure is causing our students and families. Our thoughts go out to our senior class knowing they will not have the opportunity to walk across a graduation stage in front of their family, friends, and peers. Please be assured, we will find a way to honor our seniors and recognize their achievements.
None of this is easy but despite our distance, we are still one Trojan family. We will continue to love and support each other. We will always make decisions based on what is best for our students. Thank you for your trust. You will hear from us very soon.
Sincerely,
JPS Administration
