Dear Sir/Madam,

I have received the sneakers that I buy from your online shop. With the excitement, I unwrapped the package but found something wrong with them.So I’m writing to inform you the problems.

First, the color of the sneakers that I want are red instead of black. Second, size 41 is too large for them. That annoys me most is that there are several little stain on one of the sneakers. They really look awfully. If putting in my situation, how would you feel?

I’d like to change this pair for a new one and give me the money back.

Looking forward to your early reply.

Sincerely yours,

Lin Ming

故去掉the。

inform sb. of/about sth. 故在you后面加of/about。

本句中,主語是the color of the sneakers that I want的中心詞是color,因此謂語動(dòng)詞應(yīng)用單數(shù)形式。故are改為is

故them改為me。

故把That改為What。

If引導(dǎo)的條件狀語從句,從句省略了主語yoube動(dòng)詞完整形式為if you were put in my situation (如果你處在我的處境)。故putting改為put

故and改為or。

Land Art, sometimes referred to as Earth Art or Earthworks, is a form of art which involves using physical landscapes to create art, taking art out of the museum and into the outside world. Modem Land Art movement really got going in the 1960s, when American artists began creating Land Art on a large scale. Today, works of modem Land Art can be seen all over the world, sometimes right alongside much older pieces of Land Art created by people who lived thousands of years ago.

Land Art, which is not necessarily unchangeable, can take a number of forms. For example, in 1970 Robert Smithson created the Spiral Jetty (螺旋狀防波堤), made of a collection of stones and mud, in the Great Salt Lake. The American artist made a large jetty in a spiral shape which sticks out into the waters of the lake.

Reshaping the landscape is a common characteristic of Land Art, which can be created by moving parts around. People can also add things to the environment to create Land Art, like salt, which is added to the Spiral Jetty. It is possible to use plants. In all cases, Land Art is immovable.

Land Art is designed to gradually form, change, and eventually decay (衰落). That’s one of the biggest differences between Land Art and most of the art one sees in the museums. Some works of art can exist only for a few hours or days. Others are exposed to rain and wind so that they develop and decay over time, which is part of the attractiveness in the eyes of the artists.

2What do we know about Robert Smithson?

A. He is a great creative artist.

B. He lives near the Great Salt Lake.

C. He made the most famous Land Art.

D. He was a pioneer in creating Land Art.

3One of the unique characteristics of Land Art lies in .

A. it shows the extreme beauty of nature

B. it develops and decays gradually over time

C. it combines the landscapes around completely

D. it offers the artists a chance to get close to nature

4What is the passage mainly about?

A. Works of Land Art.

B. History of Land Art.

C. Changes of Land Art.

D. Introduction of Land Art.

The early lack of exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can be harmful to achieving gender balance in these fields. It begins when we are young and continues throughout our time in high school.

While at home, girls generally don’t get to experience the level of exposure or encouragement in STEM fields that boys do. It is often subtle, but it’s the first obstacle that faces and confuses so many women. Boys, on the other hand, get on their path, and are encouraged to do so, generally earlier than girls. For example, boys are more often given science sets as toys, which spark an interest in these subjects.

In school, boys are often pushed in school to take the more challenging math and science classes. So if we want to attract the best and brightest minds into the fields that will advance us as a people, a country, and a planet, we can no longer look to only half of the population. Young girls cannot possibly consider opportunities they do not know exist. If girls are not exposed to certain subject and career paths, they are highly unlikely to elect to follow them in college.

Our bias(偏見) toward girl, either from families or from schools is so rooted in our culture that we often don’t even recognize it. While the situation has changed greatly in the past 20 or 30 years, there is still a sense that girls aren’t as good at math, for instance, even though there is almost no evidence to support such a belief.

It is important that as a society we deal with gender stereotypes long before young people are faced with a decision to declare or choose a major in college. Without making efforts to break them, we are limiting the potentials of our youth, both male and female. Providing the necessary resources, exposure, and encouragement would help young women understand that their gender shouldn’t determine the career path they choose, and that pursuing a STEM career does not make them less feminine.

1According to the passage, not many girls grow to enter STEM fields because ________.

A.girls are not as good at STEM as boys

B.girls do not like to take science classes

C.girls get fewer chances to know about STEM

D.girls seldom survive the high pressure positions

2The underlined word “it” in Para.4 refers to ________.

A.this biasB.our culture

C.the situationD.a sense

3The main purpose of the passage is to ________.

A.show girls’ potentials in STEM fields

B.praise women’s contributions to STEM fields

C.describe the present gender bias in STEM fields

D.call for more involvement of women in STEM fields

4Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
